I had met Hennie Van Zyl the previous day, and when I saw him just before I left, he told me that I am welcome to stay at his place, Goudkop Bush Camp, in the Redelinghuis area on the West Coast. He had phoned and arranged everything with his staff.

Little did I know what this would entail.

I eventually found Neville to settle my account, just to be told that my accommodation, dinner, breakfast and beers were on the house.

Thank you Neville, thank you.

In these difficult times, it is absolutely amazing to experience such generosity and kindness, and I hope that if any of you are ever in that area that you will support him.

Hennie has a massive farm stall, called Skrik van Rondom, where I met his staff and I was directed to my accommodation, after I was asked what I would like for supper. Wague (spelling?) steak was suggested, so I agreed and drove up to the camp.

My steak and chips arrived, they even specially opened their bar to get me some beers and ice, so it was supper and a beer with a spectacular view, before bed time.

Hi Mike, back in PE. Arrived Sunday evening. I have been away for so long with no incidents, but today they decided to break into my house and steal my TV, and completely destroy 2 doors..

$&!*, I am pissed off, welcome back to good old SA.

Decided to visit Elands Bay.

There is a nice little gravel road along the coast.

That is one helluva long way to walk to the outhouse.

Back to Goudkop Bush Camp.

 

[DASKOP]

There was a group of young men at Goudkop from all over to spend some boys time and watch the rugby.

 

[DASKOP]

I went on a game drive.

A whole hillside of Eland.

 

[DASKOP]

Saw a few more animals along the way back.

 

[DASKOP]

Goudkop Bush Camp is really worth a visit.

Back at the main building, the young men were in full swing, and sometimes the rugby was forgotten. They treated me to a wonderful braai and I enjoyed the time with them, but it brought on a terrible sense of despair, loss and deep sadness.

I miss my boy so much.
