First things first - Happy New Year to all Wild Dogs members. May your year ahead be filled with health, family and travel. Today we take a ride to KZN.
The small town of Utrecht has seen its fair share of pain and suffering over the centuries. The town lies at the foot of the Balele Mountains in northern KZN (apparently holds the distinction of being the only town completely within the boundaries of a nature reserve) and a number of big passes provide access to the surrounding towns. One of these passes heads north up the mountain and it is this one that we focus on today. Whilst the pass is a fairly big one and offers some interesting riding with wonderful scenery, it is the history of the area which holds the real fascination.
We take an in-depth look into the life of a most unusual man - one Thomas Francois Burgers - who rose from a controversial and liberal dominee to become the president of the Transvaal Republic. You can pick up on the full story via this link on our latest news page: https://bit.ly/2CMesod
As usual the page will be kept open till this Sunday so that Wild Dogs members can enjoy free access.
