My day started off real kak... Had my 1st off on the way to meeting the other WD's!!

I left my house at about 7am and it was still rather chilly and the roads a little damp. Went around a circle in Langeberg Rd and my rear tyre hit a steel manhole cover. The rear came around and the next thing I saw my bike sliding in front of me with sparks flying everywhere...

Went down hard on my right hip and elbow. I was wearing Kevlar pants, but still got a lekker roasty on the hip. My Thor Impact Rig saved my elbow though, not a scratch on it!!! So with a stiff hip and elbow I picked up the bike and gave it a thorough check-over.
The right hand guard and footpeg took all of the carnage and stood up quite well… One tiny scrape on the zorst and side coverand that’s it!!! DRZ’s are good at crashing!!!  :thumleft:

Here is a pic… I am standing on the evil manhole and you can see the skidmarks where the cold D606 rear fought in-vain for some traction… You can see where I hit the deck and the scrape marks to where I ended up.

Seems Im not the first to go down here if you look at the other scrape marks in the area. You can see one running across my tyre marks… Will def be on the lookout for manhole covers from now on…  :-\

It was just so unreal, I thought my day was over after the crash. I didn’t feel too sore (yet) and rode to the rendezvous point a little shaken up, but well awake… Only once I got there I started getting stiff and sore… But not enough to make me go home…

So we all rode the back roads via Fisantekraal towards Wellinton.

So, the Enduro training…
Big Up to Leon, our instructor, who made everything look so easy... Also respect to the man for patiently putting up with our constant banter/chirping/kakpraat... and Topbox's relentless ball-slapping... Got me twice, the baastid...  :xxbah:

Pity about Tazz going down early and the shoulder injury, get well soon mate...

I went down 3 times during the training, the first 2 while trying to show off...  ::)

1st One: trying to brake the latest into a 90 degree left corner on wet grass/mud. Lost the front and went down like a sack of shit. What was funny was the “Honk!!” that came from my bling-bling hooter (which I didn’t remove with my num plate and mirrors, silly really…) as I hit the ground… LOL!!! What wasn’t funny was the pain in my left knee… (No knee guards… Yes, I know…) And of course there would be a pic of me on my ass cursing... :eek:scar:

2nd One: Power sliding on wet grass/mud during an outride… Bad idea… Another “Honk!” Not funny any more so I took it off and stashed it in Wes’ back pack…  ;)

3rd One: Quite spectacular as I left a small ramp sideways and landed on slippery mud and went down hard on the injured hip again… FFS!!! Now it was really hurting…  :'(

The rest of the day went by without any further incidents and I must say that the farm has some of the most awesome trails to practice/train on… :drif:

I also took Topbox’s BRP for a spin, naais!!! Moerse torque…

And also Sid’s CRF450R… Fire & Piss!!!!  That thing is like a rabid wolverine with a pinched testicle!!! I want one!!!

So in the end, a big thanks from me too, to Etienne and the rest of the organizers of this event. Will only grow from here on…

And yes, Im in pain today...  8)

Kirsten might have gotten a pic of you?
Pity the camera wasn't ready for Wes's handstand and subsequent nosedive!!

From my side - thanks to Etienne for organizing - what a fun day!
Our 'enduro' group started small and got even smaller 5 minutes later.
What a shame what happened to Tazz! Hope that shoulder heals well..

None of us really had any opportunity to take pictures - the pace was just too frantic.
Thanks a MILLION to Leon for the instruction. I had an absolute blast.
I think as a group we interacted well and had a good time throughout.

Apart from the odd slip here and there we had no major casualties after Tazz.
Bus probably came off the worst but I think the_Wes racked up the most falls overall.
no surprises there  >:D

Ok, people listen up

;D ;D ;D

How did you guys do with that 'hips together slow turning thing ?

I tell you - I've been close to the big KTM pillion couple (can't remember the names - sorry!) on almost all the outrides and serious respect for those two on doing it all and making it look easy.

LOL!!! True that...

Wes, you need to update your avatar again...

Those last 6 pics of MrBig (your 2 fall sequences) will make a nice gif.

Like the one you had of the quarry but with a FAIL2 at the end

:imaposer:

HAHAHA.

I really wished I had gone to try that water crossing. Probably would have seen my ass, but oh well. :p

Thanks to everyone involved, I had a rocking time.

My new K60 and 606 really impressed me in those muddy grass sections. Next time I'm definitely gonna push it harder.

Cool man!

As I told you - you have a good way of getting concepts home.

Haha, if i remember correctly, there was alot of 'thrusting' as you to demonstrated standing up and sitting down repeatedly  :-\ But in all seriousness, you 2 did great!

Was awesome :thumleft:

Thanks to Etienne for organizing and great instructors.

What a difference to the first time I did this course: wet grass and mud, what a playground . Managed to do my first standing powerslide - woohoo!

With all the action, I'm ashamed to say I didn't even get all the Dogs' names. Who was the guy + pillion on the blue 990 Adv S?

I'd like to add my thanks to all involved in making Saturday such fun. Still stiff and I've begun to walk in circles thanks to the kickstart work out I got.

Great to put faces to names, Wild Dogs rock!

Ja thanks to Etienne again, to Daniel our instructor, all the ladies and gents who fed and watered us and to everybody in my group (the "least" experienced, not the "least least"..  ;) ) for not laughing to hard when I met mother earth. And too all the people there, thanks!

I was in bed by 19:00 last night.

;D My girlfriend cannot stop talking about it...seems i have unleashed a beastie
