Crash bar or valve head cover?

Here's one for the ou boxer manne:

From your experience, would you recommend crash bars or valve head covers to protect the boxer engine heads in case of the bike falling over? One dealer said that crash bars tend to bend in a fall, thus nullifying their effect.
