I recently purchased a second hand 2004 dakar. Nice bike and love it commuting.
I rode my gs 1200 to work and back daily. 50km to work and 50km back. Round trip of 100.4km to be exact. The dakar however shows on the speedo 60km to work and 60km back. 20% more than the actual distance. I chexked with 3 different vehicles as well. Defnitly 100km.
I also checked to speed on the gps. At 100km/h the Dakar shows 120km/h. 20% more again.
1. How do I remedy this?
2. Does this mean the actual odo is 20% less than 32400km?
The dakar has according to seller a bigger sprocket on the back. Could this be the cause and what effect does bigger sprocket have on speed/torque?
Pls advice or help appreciated.
