dakkie runs as if fuel starved

dakkie starts easy, idle no problem, hit the road and at at speed the following occurs:

between 5 and 6000 rpm in top gear she starts holding back and it feels almost like fuel starvation with a little miss...does not occur all of the time.

any ideas?
