It started off over a couple of beers and wine at one of our Friday lunch gatherings….Ball and Chain had a big credit .. 10 days….so he suggested SANI PASS over the bash time. We all had our tickets for the Karoo2Coast cycle gathering sold and that sealed the commitment. Two new wild dogs were recruited; one was bullied into buying his first midlife crisis bike, and was promptly christened BADVAN, the other was to be our driver on the K2C trip but also had a bike. When asked to join us he had no hesitation and so B[member=3756]C[/member] took the liberty of registering Tony as the now well-known HORNYGOAT on the forum…..Blinkes being our wine producer and supplier, was naturally by our side.  Yes we have our very own personal wine man and being from the Namaqualand, a hoot with every word uttered…..kontverstom… I tell you. Oh and Cocky you missed out big time!
This was Anda and I’s 12th bash together, and we will most probably do them in the wheel chair one day.
So preps and services were done, places were booked, all the gear was packed, and the noobs were given some pointers as to what and how ….it went something like this “pack tubes and credit card, if you must  clean jocks and …..well that’s it”

Day 1 was a big one as there was the JAM-JAR RALLY in Steytlerville where we wanted to stay, so no accommodation. Kirkwood were we booked the Aloe tented camp was the target, a 700km day for us and 1000km for Blinkes, rain was our companion the whole day, but we managed a couple of beer stops, as getting to the camp we had 12 km of wet gravel with some snotty patches before  opening the wine. Jannie from PE joined us in his bakkie .
We all arrived, with one incident on the snotty road in that broke some Tupperware on HG’s BMW GS, he also had some damage but nothing that a couple of Clanwilliam cocktails could not sort out.
We officially started the bash fire and broke the wine seals…

Highly recommended.

Blinkes spoilt us with a cap and a T shirt each with our trip and name on the back.

DANKIE JOUOUNAAIs !  :peepwall: :pot: ;) ;)

Day 2

Target Kei Mouth

Started of wet again, so the muddy snotty road was tackled with so caution and some trepidation from the noobs side…..some pointers as to keep in the running water furrows and a steady throttle with some paddling if you feel so, got everybody back to the tar for fuel in Kirkwood.

Ball and Chain took lead and promptly hit the muddy road to Zuurberg , I opted out and left for Patterson  to meet up in Bathurst for lunch. They had some great riding and coaching, ending up at the Zuurberg Inn for a beer. Anda and I hit some shortcuts and ended up going through some game farms with Buffalo, Rooihartebees Zebras etc to hit the coastal road up to Bathurst.

Bathurst beer was sweet and the food excellent, the road  through East London and the N2 to Kei was a slog .  :-[
Arriving at NEPTUNES COVE our next sleeping pozi. :ricky:

Day 3.
We were heading for Coffee Bay the White Clay Resort

Over the pont and on to the whet muddy road to meet up with the N2 …YES IT WAS WET AGAIN…dodging the Transkei big five. :3some:

Uneventfully we arrived in Coffee Bay thirsty :drif: so we stopped off at the first backpackers to quench it.
Then off to White Clay were we settled in for our rest day too.  :sip:

The party commenced in leaps and bounds and before long we were all talking and laughing too much too lekker…..what happened in White Clay stays ….

Day 4 REST DAY. Yes and no rain, a beautiful day !

We saw the sun come over the sea again , we don’t see that very often being Capies…we see it go down over the sea though. Took the opportunity to make the Africa twin look good and then off to the Hotel for a breakfast
.
Then the world famous HOLE IN THE WALL to take the obligatory pictures.

This area must be one of the best places to come and relax, its remote but has all the amenities you could ever want, we will surely come back and explore again

Te Lekker!

I can see that the White Clay hasn't changed in 15 years - spent a 2-week Christmas Holiday there in 2002 or so, camping, it rained every day - spent a load of time & money on the viewing deck....

Keep it coming!!
