I have been way too generous with the throttle and find myself 80 km from the closest servo (Aussie for petrol station)


I stop to have a once over the bike at around 210 km and find my exhaust is hanging loose.

Seems someone installed the insert the wrong way around. I swap the busing around and tighten the bolt. The forest is now gloriously thick. I am getting closer to my old home.

I freewheel 4 km down the mountain out of the hidden valley. Imagine bainskloof just more rural and no safety wall.

I make it to the servo in Ingham!!

I stop in Cardwell for a Crab burger and beer and then on to Tully.

My old office and Bakkie next to my bike. I say hi and goodbye to my now ex colleagues.

300 km gravel that was stunning  and some tar.
I end up at my old neighbors house in Mission beach.

Today is a rest day and washing and service day.




I got some oil and a oil filter from Yamaha. The bike is on 7400 km now. Mostly me commuting in Brisbane. However I won’t get to a place I can service before 10 000 km. The filter was only due at 10 000 km but I like to keep oil and filters fresh in a wet clutch bike. The oil that came out was still clear so all good.

Washing and lubing my air filter.

Scrubbing the chain. And still undecided if I will set it stiffer or not.

Good man, Great Northern Original. Had a man in my chair recently with multiple fractures in his leg. He'd taken out a Cassowary (yet to come on your trip) with a KTM250. Bird was fine but they also do the stupid thing of running into your path. They are meant to be endangered and I'm not bloody surprised!

Ek wag vir qoute!

Ek het R155000 vir hom hier betaal met 1800 km op. As ek klasr is gaan hy 13000-15000 km op hê. So sal sien wat hulle my offer, anders moet hy dalk skip ry.
