L, geez lady. How exactly did it happen??
(asking as I'm interested in those armour jackets , but see not even they are elbow damage proof/?)

Good luck and hope you recover soon.   :thumleft:
kitty cat..thanks...the jacket is good..just an odd fall......rather remove the front mudguard on your bike...it stopped the front wheel dead....neck, hands, ankle, ribs, all is well, no buises, am not stiff or anything...just the elbow...the jacket did all it could...it could have been broken without the jacket for all we know!...
Bike has been delivered..clean and with a prezzi....bent pro tapers, shattered screen, broken mirror stem....
THANK YOU SO MUCH TWEETS...

After executing a perfect "tuck & roll" manouvre after flyoing over my handle bars, I'm only feeling the aches and pains now.
Note the modified front mudguard conversion ala Grim. Also lost my left mirror in that trick.

Ai tog Antie...

We had an adventurous day. I suppose one can say we got more than we bargained for.  Interesting,  is whilst we were chatting at the meeting place, waiting for Laurike and Punisher, and discussing the road / track conditions we were headed for, Malibu said “ We are all going down today, guy’s !” with that prominent “Colgate Smile” she has.  ;D

In the same area, where L went down, I also had a “Groot Skrik”. I was beating it along, weight balance – on the pegs for direction control is all that works in these conditions, when suddenly I went left into the bush, over corrected,  and shot right-hand wise across the path straight through the grass on the right of track, until the railway line, where I found terra-firma at the edge of the stones. I carried on all the way to the end of that bad section, next to the railway line. Ok, I “jippoed”, but I lived to ride another day  ;D

Some survived the day, but looks like most went down somewhere.

Thinking back now, I realise how we are like sheep.  :3some: Why do we have to follow in the basically the exact path of the others. Just to say “I went where all the others went !”  KARK, say I.  When we feel the “underfoot” or conditions are becoming a challenge, and we possibly “want out”  we should immediately, and consciously look for a better track to take.

Ok, we all learnt something on this run. Lets apply those teachings next time, lest we forget.

Some say we learn by our mistakes ! BUT do we?  :-\

I have been on 3 or 4 WET canal runs over the years, I might have been on this one because of a stupidity issue....., you will go down eventually and eventually someone will have a bad off, sorry it was you Laurika, that snot mud is nothing like sand except that if it gets you you are down big time  8)

Did you get sorted with your brakes?

had to bleed them a couple times to get home .  gave it a good pressure wash this morning , havent ridden  but  keep pressing brakes and it feels ok  , not too hard , will nip round to BMW tomorrow morning and hear what they have to say
:thumleft:

Another funny comment made by Punisher when loading L's bike on the trailer...

He's wandering around and sees the name on the bike... "Plaasmeisie"...  and you can see the thinking...

Then the comment in that scotsh accent of his... "Well, I guess Plaasmeisie bought the plaas"...

Sorry L, but it sure was funny!

The lynchmob gone yet  :peepwall:

Dudes , whomever did not come ride , missed a great one !!!

As Laurika said , I was karking myself and then one of the older wiser forum members told me that I may as well go and face the mud monster head on , and learn to ride the mud ...so that the day I am faced with mud , I will know what to do ...and he was so right !!!  It was terrifying in the beginning , but we took the same route we entered with , to get out of the canals...and both APO and myself had to admit that what was terrifying earlier in the day was a piece of old tekkie at the end of the day.

It is a great pity that someone had to get hurt , more so seeing that it is one of the ladies in the group , and also the one with the confirmed plans for what promised to be a great trip. Glad to hear that you are ok Laurika , and thank you for joining us  :thumleft:

Mark and Malibu , we were lucky to con you guys into riding with us....it was comforting to know that expert advice was readily available...and trust me , I asked , they answered , I survived  :mwink:

Grim , thanks dude...for chaperoning us around the place...one can tell you have done this a couple of times before...I should have known that you were an old hand at this when I saw your swampmonster at the garage on Harties that morning...that XT and the swamp have morphed ....

RS...has anybody ever told you how that HP growls????  let me tell you something...every time I fell asleep and slowed down that HP crept up and barked at me......fark , no better way to get me going......the fear of having HP tread pattern on my noggin...those bikes are friggin awesome...will always remain a fantasy of mine...BUT , I realise after the weekend that the HP 2 will always be WAY TOO MUCH BIKE FOR ME !!!!! Respect to the guys that have them tamed...that bronco would hospitalise me in a flash!!!

APO , despite the fact that I had conned you into this as well , thanks for enduring with us and showing us the
"tuck and roll"...you clearly have this down pat ...I am happy to have been taught this by a master  :mwink:...you also have no idea how much better I felt after you call yesterday admitting that you are a bit sore......Yeeesssshhh , at least I am not the only old man that was feeling a bit worse for wear....

For the record , it was one days riding , and ONE WHOLE days cleaning :imaposer:

The rest of the people , thanks for a lekker day......Punisher...you are bigger than me dude and I tried my best not to laugh in your face for fear of getting donnered...that was classic , and the way you took it all in stride makes it even nore priceless !!!

Would I do it again , HELL YES, as soon as some of the aches and pains die down a bit .

And before I go.....

The brakes on Punishers GS froze up twice...twice we stopped and Rolling Stone bled the brakes till the bike could move again....the Scot then limped along using back brake only......being nosey I called Kurt/Adventurer during lunch to find out what the prob could be.....

Response I got....look on the side of the tank...see that blue and white thing ........

Kurt, gues what ?????  Happened to see the pic of the KTM with the caliper tied to the crashbar ?????
BMW 1 , KTM 1  :imaposer: :imaposer:

Btw boys , we were staring at Marks bike with the fender removed , trying to figure how we are going to stop the brake line from fouling the front tyre...I was ready to kink the hose and remove the caliper...Mark was ready to just remove the caliper and use the back brake...then out of the blue the girl in the group states the obvious...remove the farkin caliper and just tie it to the crashbars....my point is , once again it got proven to me that us guys tend to overthink most things and often make a mountain out of a moles hap, COS WE CAN  :imaposer:

Sheet , that was a darn essay , but thanks everyone that attended and had fun with us......I will certainly never forget my mudmonster initiation trip .
