My XR125 is essentially a "rescue" bike that was left next to the ocean for 10 or so years and driven for 350kms in that time. After getting it into a drive-able condition it is doing rather well. Wanting to take good care of it had me change the oil every 1000kms and every time I did that the oil was pitch black already reeking of petrol.
The oil I use is Castrol GTX 20W50 like what the dealer used on the 1000km service.
Is the black colour and/or smell to be expected?
If not, what should one do?
