As all 800 riders are aware, compressors and the like cannot be run on the standard Hella as the canbus trips. A canbus upgrade was not an option as this will invalidate the electrical warrantee as was confirmed by BMW. However, a direct connection to the battery would not.

Whilst there are some beautiful plugs available, they are costly and at this time of year my focus was on buying presents for the family and an alternative solution had to be found.

I managed to find a cheap Hella socket, bought a glass fuse holder and a few other odds and ends and decided to risk it and make my own Hella direct to battery socket.

The parts and drill bit.
