Those boots are great, but dont offer any ankle protection

Daar is nou so a kwaai rooi kolletjie bo-op my voet op dieselfde plek.

Zanie - super trip report. :thumleft:

I unfortunately have to agree with Dwerg here.  The W2 boots are on the soft side for tech stuff (I would only wear those if I ride gravel that reflects a highway)  and is not a proper boot for hard off-roading,  something like Gearne SG-10 12, Sidi etc (preferably something with a stitched sole)  - would have given you better protection.  Those knee pads (although good knee pads) are not knee braces (which helps with hyperflexing etc (plenty of good off the shelve makes  - or super expensive (but the best) being CTi's

A foot update:

I am still on crutches and was warned by my physio last Friday not to put any weight on my foot at all until the follow-up check today. She looked more hopeful, but was still worried about that sore spot on the toe bone on the top of my foot. Best case scenario: the actual bone has a bit of a bruise, which takes longer to heal than soft-tissue bruises. Worst case: it's broken.

I'm going for follow-up X-rays tomorrow. Apparently (correct me if I understood wrong) if there is a break, the new calcium deposits will show up more clearly than a brand new break. Hold thumbs! If there's nothing broken, then I can start gradually putting weight on my foot.

Great RR!

Pity the ride was slightly spoilt by the tumble! Life experience though!

Hope there is good news tomorrow after the next set of x-rays!

Get well soon! Hopefully you up and riding soon again!

NICE RR, JAMMER OOR DIE OFF, HOOP JY KOM VINNIG WEER OP DIE FIETS.

DANKIE VIR DIE DEEL :thumleft: :thumleft:

BUGGER! I went for my follow-up X-rays today. Turns out I do have a fracture in the first/medial cuneiform. Wikipedia picture of foot bones for those who are interested: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9e/Gray268.png.

It's not a complete surprise. I've sprained my foot badly before and the pain was not on the same scale.

I had really hoped to get free of my crutches soon...  :'(
