The following tyres are the standard size on my Yamaha XT1200Z:
Front: 110 80 R19
Rear: 150 70 R17
I need to fit new front and back now, so I thought of going to a 120 80 R19 on the front.
I was told by the salesman that by going to a 120 in front it will affect the handling in that it will make the bike feel “heavy” when cornering.
His reason for this: there needs to be certain width difference between the front and the rear and the 110 front and 150 back is the best ratio.
He also said that if I want to fit a 120 on the front I need to go to a 170 at the back witch I don’t want to do because you need to make a few mods to fit a 170 on the back.
Anybody here on the forum who can verify this theory with regards to the 110 front and 150 and that a 120 front with a 150 back will make the bike feel heavy when cornering?
