day 5 was a nice dirt section from Matatiel to underburg, spent a few hours with some old friends. did the last 300km home doing tar ???but i was a bit gatfull of dirt. the pass from Rhodes to matatiel took 10 years of my suspension. there were some sections where rockes were used to fill in the wash aways, 1st gear 2nd gear, back to 1st. it is only 180km but it took me just over 4 hours

Nice.  That tunnel is that the route between Montrose (Van Reenen) and Ladysmith ?  I believe you can ride through some tunnels there.

Yes, from ladysmith you head towards the N3 and turn right onto a tar road, a few km there is a rail way line, cross and turn left onto the dirt road, it follows the tracks. There is only one tunnel. You finish of at the top of van-reenens at one point you ride right next to the N3

My type of trip, thank you for sharing!  :thumleft:

Hi Donovan, nice RR. What a surprise to see our bike in your photo on top of Naude's nek pass. I can remember we said to ourselves that you can see you are a guy what do a lot of traveling on your bike.

Sorry I never stopped and spoke, I had a bee in my bonnet to get home :)

Hi, the 800 with PAWFS numberplate was Piet and his wife, the yellow GSA behind your bike was me and my wife, the Dakar was Arno Piet's son and the bike not is the photo was Freddie with his green 1100. It was the our first time in the Eastern Cape. What a beautiful place. Will go back for sure.

Thanks for your RR.

I was not expecting that pass to be so busy. In a way it was comforting to know if I had problems I would not have to wait hours for help :)

My biggest stress ridding on my own is falling and braking a bone. My brother in-law broke his collar bone in the middle of no ware with no cell signal. Lucky we were on MTB and I could push his one till I got signal. That was one of the most stressful days I can remember.

I rode that same Lundeans neck pass when it was raining and slippery!Very scary butt awesome and so beautifull!!
Great R/R  :thumleft:

Faark I need to make the time to ride more! Nice report, great pics and thanks for sharing. Would love a copy of the track/route if you dont mind?
