Anybody else get caught yesterday evening in and around Fourways area towards the west rand in the rain? I was on Poms project bike as I needed to be in the Fourways area at 7am yesterday. Did not even poke my head out of the office until 4-15pm, and it was dark skies that awaited, getting worse towards the west - Weltevreden Park way. Anyway started off, but only got as far as the O Hagans near Douglasdale when it was just too hard, and slippery on those knobblies . Two light beers later I thought I saw a gap in the skies, and left. Not to be, just passed the Northgate dome and down it comes again - even worse now, and nowhere to hide, so on I went. Drenched to the bone, just at Rock Cottage she splutters and dies!!! A few attempts at kickstart to no avail.Pull to the side, and contemplate thew options, push to garage about 700m uphill - NO, road to busy, and bike heavy! Call a frien around the corner - Yes, and he was on his way - great, sit and wait. A superbike passes, splitting lanes, so could not see me at first, but once passed obviously saw me in the mirrors, brakes, looks for oncoming traffic, and does a U turn, and then comes back towards me, slows, and pulls over on the otherside of the road. I give him the thumbs up, as I had somebody on the way, and he does the same, turns around and carries on - this all in drenching rain - GREAT HEY!!!!! ;D
Whoever you are, I trust i will be able to do the same one-day
THEN................................................... turn the petrol on to reserve, 2 kicks, and she starts, and I drove all the way home!! What a twit!!!!!
Lesson - when riding a new bike get to know how far on a tank before it is too late!!!
Tried to take a pic when home on the cellphone, but that too was waterlogged, but it was not a pretty site - 4 beers later all was back to normal!
Thanks again to unknown rider, and lets make sure we all do the same, no matter what bike it is 8) 8) 8)
