I'd still like to see someone do it as a marathon event up the sandy coast road and back on dirt somewhere in the hinterland. Now THAT would be ballsy.  :mwink:

Danie & Gideon:  we completed our northern Cape meander, including your infamous Road to Hell.  I'll post a complete RR in the 4x4 section in due time, but here are some photies of the RtH. We descended on Wednesday 27-06-2012 and made our way back up the next morning. The ascent was truly hell.  The last 1.4km took us 2.5 hours.

I looked out for your rock art, but regrettably did not see it. However can confirm your tracks are still there as evidence of your trip. The only vehicle tracks we saw looked about a year old, so probably Jacko and his photographer in their luxury 4x4...

All I can say (having done it) is that you guys have my utmost respect and that anyone should think twice before trying it. I will not be surprised if this road claims a life or two in the future (especially with so many 4x4s around).
