GPS V power supply

I need to get power to my GPS V unit on my 2000 KTM 640 Adventure. I have the power cable that was supplied with the unit (12V car unit), can I draw power directly from the battery or is there a trick to this.

As far as I know there is no accesory(sp) plug.
