Couldn't help but notice this place on Lundeans Nek in your video.
Both Riaan and myself went down on the slippery surface of this low water bridge but we also noticed some other crash marks on the concrete that were not ours. Now I know whose it is. ::)

Ha, I was stupidly filming with one hand and riding with the other (because I'd broken my helmet mount)

Sorry about the delay in editing.

I've finished the first episode which is now available online:

I'm also half way through the second episode, which is coming out really well. The story really gets going in the second and third episode. I'll hopefully have the second episode done by next week :)

Once again, your support at https://www.facebook.com/graveltravel would be great.

I'm really hoping that we see a new genre growing for adventure riding documentaries by those that enjoy both riding and film!

Fantastic stuff ;)  There is so much out there that can be documented these days and with the new generation of DSLR's that can shoot high resolution video one can produce a feature film in this way.

Great job man, very cool! Will be filming a bike trip in just over a month and good to see whats possible.

Thanks guys.

I know DD and Michiel were working on a DVD, and it's cool to hear that Cable Tie is having a go to.

It would be really cool if we could work together to get a distribution channel going. I would love to see this genre of adventure travel documentries growing.

Something like this is hardly going to make you money (in fact it is much more likely to cost money). But it would be great to share your efforts with other people.

Would love a decent DSLR. I've seen some really cool stuff shot with DSLR's on Vimeo. Right now I can't event afford to replace my GoPro, which is currently at the bottom of some damn.

Yip, I picked up my Canon 60D last week. It does have some hurdles to overcome when doing documentary style filming of which sound is a big one, but there are ways to get around it. Two you could look at is the Zoom H4N, the only problem with this is syncrhonizing video and sound. The other options is a juicedlink. Also if you use FCP to edit you get a plug in called Plural eyes which links the video and sound for you.

Anyway, keep us posted!

Great video!! Im looking forward to the next one.

If may ask, how big is that final file you had, and what did you use to edit it?

I was in Lesotho this weekend. I bumped into 2 mericans who where involved in education project in the rural areas of Lesotho. They had a 5D Mk2 with them. I tried not to drool too much.

Thanks BB. I have about 250 Gigs of video to play with. The largest files are >4Gigs, which does pose some problems for my editing software. I use Vegas, but had to use windows movie maker to first shrink the big files.

Episode 2 is available online. Hope you enjoy :)

Awesome video RR, looks like you guys had a lot of fun... :thumleft: :thumleft:

Keep it coming...

Anxiously awaiting the next episode...

Thanks. I'm hoping to have the next done by this time next month...

I see that Vimeo have done their normal post processing. The video's a more reasonable 90MB now rather than 300MB, for those that are bandwidth conscious.

90MB for 21min of video is actually really impressive. The uncompressed avi's are >4GB.

Better 18months late than never  :bueller:
