Gotto love it!! :laughing4:

Hey - the wheel turns and he who laughs loudest laughts last  :3some: (We all know that the BMW is the usual KTM recovery vehicle). Now tell us about your fuel pump problems ...  ;)

:imaposer:

I know this thing, I have to gloat while I can! ;D One day you may just return the favour?
My Facet fuel pump I`ve been carrying around for 2 years finally got put into service in Lesotho, been expecting a failure for some time as these were known to bomb out! I am impressed it made 30 000 kms!

Nice stories and pics.  Was good to see you guys again - it is just that we were all so busy riding and enjoying the trip that we did not get to spend a lot of time chatting.  Let's have another go next year.....  :thumleft:

Derrick's 800GS had a small tipover and then would not start - gave a EWS error ... essentially the bike will not read the key and thus will not start (immobilisor fault). It is a known fault on 1200's and there was a recall on it (and we hear the 800 as well?). There is no work around bypass! So bike was left on the mountain, BMW on call came through from Bethlehem and collected it the next day along with owner ... checked out as I had diagnosed but would need to order part. Owner looked at the new 800gs on the floor and made comment about being given that as a loan bike...or swop   ended up doing a good deal and got back on the tour quickly ...  :ricky:

Imagine the conversation with your wife when you arrive home from a trippie with a new bike  ::)

He SMS'd his wife about the new bike. Her reply - cool.. I think she's a keeper.

MAtt, hoe het die XR gegaan? Mens sien net foto's van die overweight bms en kaktieems. Het die tank toe gehou?

what an awesome and impressive trip guys!

Looks like you all got a good workout. Interesting the variety of bikes and ATGATT used. Was there a big spread in riding skills, or are you all pretty much the same? Did some riders experience a steep learning curve?

There was a fairly wide range of riding skills, but we stuck together and helped one another as nessessary. Some guys commented that they were really out of their comfort zone from day one, but really enjoyed the trip none the less!
That old XR is a machine! Try as I may Matt sticks on my tail....anywhere! :thumleft:

I can imagine that route would be very intimidating for some. Believe it or not, even I think it looks tough.

I still miss it, that thing is a monster!!! No wonder they compare it to the 690KTM's.

It would have wasted away in my garage, glad Mat can make full use of it!
