Hey goose thanks for the update. That Xr of yours looks lekker and the boys starting to get into the rhythm even if the whale flipped the Grizz.

I've had no further news from the two of them - hope all's well...  they wanted to reach George by 6pm - but maybe a bit ambitious...?


UPDATE - The boys reached George a short while ago - SAFE!! 

bloody phone I knew it was the xt but my spell checker wants you on an Xr. Go figure!  Glad the boys are progressing well and reliving the trippy of mine through the dog box!

Bly julle is veilig... die manne probeer baie inpak - jammer ou Grizz het so laat nog 'n ekstra week gekry anders sou die trippie lekker gespace gewees het!

Ons het genoeg tyd gehad, maar my splinter nuwe tweedehandse XT gee toe die gees, net na die eerste diep waterkruising in die middel van Baviaans, en staan nou in 'n skuur op Sandvlakte. Ons het toe teruggery, Willowmore om, ek en Dozer op sy bike.

Nee f*k ... thats not lekker! many years back I once hydrolocked a 1150GS at Smitskraal and had to come back the next day for it  ... before the snorkel mod was perfected by yours truelly.

Unfortunately not many. My bike konked after the first water crossing, when you enter the park from the Willowmore side. We turn around and road home via Willowmore/Steitlerville. Left my bike at Sandvlakte and Dozer pillioned me home on his 1150.

Long story short.....

XT600's do not like deep river crossings, but BMW GS's seem to be OK with it.

Some updates and photos main thread, linked above.

My brother towed Jupiters XT some distance, then we pushed it through knee deep water... Then towed it further to a farm where it was dumped for recovery in two weeks time.
After this, Deon and Jupiter were two up on his 1150GS.
We had some serious dirt road and then tar roads to do.

Doing 120km/hr on the dirt roads at times.
