Our day started with fetching 4 bikes from Honda Wing Umhlanga, supplied by Honda SA.

All these bikes were supplied either with OEM tyres or more road biased tyres.  To ensure all the bikes are fitted with the similar brand, our task was to fit the new ones.

In parallel to this, we also started to do our own PDI to ensure everything is set correctly and working as it should.  This included ensuring chain slack is correct, checking the oil level and also that all bolts is as per spec.

We found a number of discrepancies and loose crash bars, but everything is getting sorted as we progress.

We are also fitting what is called a Trippy, which is a mix between a GPS and an electronic roadbook, as well as Spot trackers.

More on that a bit later, for now it’s back to work.

Yoh! This looks epic, Kobus! Just one thing: all those bikes look the same, so how long will it take the riders in the morning to find their own bikes?  ;D

Thanks for sharing!  :thumleft:

The Engine Room.  This is where all the meetings happen and things get organized.

En 'n plumpie vir Specialised Adventures om hierdie internasionale gebeurtenis aan te bied!  :thumleft:

Beslis nie 'n "fly by night" organisasie nie!

That little white sticker you see on the top RHS of the photo is a reminder to ride on the left.

The day was spent fueling all the bikes, continuing with the PDI’s, lubing all the chains and assuring all tyres are at the recommended pressure.

The majority of the tyres are Karoo 3’s with a couple of TKC80’s on the privately owned bikes and a mix and match on a couple of others.

We are running them at slightly higher pressures due to the long asphalt distances they will cover.  Depending on how aggressive they ride, we have our reservations whether it would last the full distance without at least a heat cycle.

All this work took place in the lower basement.  It was hot, humid and full of exhaust fumes due to running our compressor of one of the bakkies.  Great fun, this is Africa after all!

A couple of pics of the day:

The tracking units.

I’m getting quite used to the instrument cluster on the new Adventure Sports and it will be interesting to see if it also get all dusted up like the previous model.

You can see the Tripy II Mount in the center of the handlebars.

And here’s a quick little challenge that I thought someone would have noted already.

What is the difference between this Adventure Sports and the one currently available to us?

First guy to answer it correctly can get one of our Adventure Roads 2019 stickers.
