I have a buddy who recently bought the nice little XL500R off Gumtree (see clockwork orange project bike also).
He managed to blow the motor on a trip to the Cedarberg. (perhaps 800Kms at an average 130KPH wasn't the best way to handle the old girl but still she did her best.
Anyway the motor went bang in a big way; difficult to see what went first as there is broken bits all in the sump. Piston, conrod, cam chain guide, balance weight shaft holder, bent valves etc. The gearbox and casings are still ok except for a broken out bolt at the balance weight shaft.
So now we need either e good complete motor or one with the gearbox trashed.
Please help !!
