I have no expertise at all, but have always wanted to do something like this. The particular model has sentimental value, from days that don't "seem" that long ago.
I am going to need a lot of help, and hopefully this forum will kindly provide it, I know from trolling that there are experts here especially on the early 80's XR's (Greco, Mike, Le Cap)
At first I intended trying to restore an 83/84 model, but it seems the "gods" provided otherwise.
I picked this up
Then I came across a "complete" 82 model, that is completely dismantled. I have stripped the frame and now have a question/favour to ask. The frame has been cut off at the back after the seat, as shown in the pic, can someone provide measurements for that part of the frame, so that I can try and get it welded back to original, or as near as. I have the 83/84 frame to use as spare parts/tubing.
