After complaining to all and sundry about the noisy gearchanges on my 1150Adv, I discovered the cure.
About half a second before you change gears, just press your foot onto the gear lever slightly. (like you would just before changing the gear) Then pull clutch and change. Seemless, soundless, amazing.
Dont know the reason for this, dont know if this is actually what they teach you at Staal Jan's courses, but damn! it works.
