Slightly off topic but do yourselves a favour and read this RR by Colebatch on Adventure Rider. Most incredible trip ever with astounding scenery. This is my dream trip as mentioned above.

Why did the shock fall apart, the clutch basket was notchy and then he replaced it, sounds like I opened the motor it looked ok so I closed it again, stuck an endoscope down the spark plug all ok in there, it is all rebuilt sir/madam nudge nudge wink wink know what I mean.
Dunno maybe I misunderstood things
Two ways to lower suspension
Forks pushed up in the triples an longer dogbones fitted it lowers the bike but does not affect suspension travel as long as nothing touches
Internal changes to forks and shock but this reduces suspension travel.
