I'm also finding the riding and sites super boring BUT I have never seen the normal side of life in Iraq and what it is actually like there. Only the American war side seeon on CNN and movies so this is fascinating. With all those police checks it is very far from being an easy place for tourism.

VERY nice to see this Countries' "way of life", as you said

I have lost count of how many times she was asked for her passport!!😬

Agreed. The historical significance of the place is also fascinating.
VERY
And those ancient palaces/temples etc etc is something not often even mentioned, never mind physically visited
Ek wonder waarheen gaan die girl volgende

Road blocks I never understood the need, in Africa often you have them too, for me it's always been about them just wanting to chat, But I find Iraq a fascinating country, and like all countries, news never shows the real side of life. But good news doesn't sell

Is die Girl 'n tipe Geoloog, of Geologie studeer?
Sy weet BAIE van formations en goete
En sy is vooraf KWAAI ingelig oor elke Plek wat sy besoek, die History, etc etc etc

So agtergekom, ja

Yes, ...and...no!

It is Winter in Saudi Arabia, and January is actually the coldest (well, coolest!) month, so early in Feb temps should still be on the cooler side, generally...
(I worked there for 3 years; lekker Winters, but Summers, not so much! Riyadh is officially the hottest CITY in the world! But that is June/July & August).
Chris

"January is the coldest month in Saudi Arabia. Temperatures in Riyadh, one of the hottest provinces, dip to an average daily high of 20°C. Nights in the desert can be a lot colder. The famous Dakar Rally comes to tackle Saudi Arabia's sand dunes in January."
