Just for the record, this is not the same water crossing that we fooled around in to take pictures  >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D

Approaching Twyfelfontein...typical Namibian roads.

We wanted to make a stop at Twyfelfontein for a lekker burger.
But when we go there they only served buffet lunches at N$200 pp. This was a little steep so we had a liquid diet and bought some biltong packs from the bar.

At some parts the road was very rocky and the going was slow.

When we passed Uis we saw a lodge. Wanting to watch the rugby and not in a mood to camp we booked a room.
The lodge's TV was broken but we found a nicer lodge next door with a BIG screen tv.
So we drank some beers and watched the rugby.

Yes yes. I know. With Funs little fall I got side tracked. Will finish tomorrow...

Great Report  :thumleft:

When we were up there last year we spent two days at the Opouwa Country Lodge campsite as well as one night at the Khowarib Lodge.

Nice to see them again!

Namibia must be one of the most spectacular countries in the world, especially that part of it.  Dying to go back again.

Waiting, waiting, next to the road, no trees, must I try and catch a lift or will you be back soon?  Nice trip..

Brilliant RR and great pics Fark, I love Africa

Patience is a virtue!!

I'm uploading the photo's as we speak, and I shall not have my 4th cup of coffee for the day until this report is finished

Day 9
Distance: 374 km
Accommodation: Windhoek (R700 per  room)

We left Uis pretty early and header towards Spitzkuppe. We did not get to camp there but I still want to see it.
The first turn off after we left Uis the road was marked at closed.
Our destination for the day was Windhoek so we have some time to play. We decided to take it.
I'm all for adventure but going down the D1930 for 100km and then having to turn back because we could not pass a river was not my idea of fun.
But off we went.

Lots of river crossings with sand and mud.

Fun got a little stuck in the mud and I had to push....not fun  :dousing: :dousing: :dousing:

When the rivers came down they washed away most of the roads leaving very long sandy river crossings.

It was chilly morning and with the road being closed we had a blast screaming down this road, most of it was in pretty good condition..just the river crossings was a little tricky
We even had some time to turn off the main road and play in the jeep tracks

Had some beer at the pub.

We then headed towards to B1 and Windhoek.
We've arranged to meet Davy for a late lunch in Windhoek so we did not have to much time.

It was nice to chat to Davy and see what the Namibians get up to when they're not out riding.

Knowing we had a lot of boring tar km to do the next day we decided not to camp so we can head out pretty early.

That night at Arebbusch Rest Camp we ate dinner at the restaurant and spend the equivalent of a small African country's GDP on Jameson and proceeded to solve the remaining problems in the country (the ones we dod not solve during the last 10 days)

Day 10
Distance: 685km
Accommodation: Kalahari rest camp again

We headed out pretty early. I was not not looking forward to the next days  :'( :'( :'( :'(
Our trip was now over and it was a very long commute home.

Nothing to interesting happing except we pulled over for speeding just before the Botswana border.
We manage to settle out of court  :3some: :3some: :3some: :3some:
Namibia's speeding fines are insane. Between 0 - 10 km over the limit is N$1000 and from there it just goes up and up
The guy even showed us the book of fines. The cheapest fine is for a broken light N$500.

Some pictures of the Lodge

Day 11
Distance: 589km
Accommodation: home

We left the lodge at first light and headed home, the k@kest day on a bike in my life.
Before 10am it never got above 5 degrees. And there was a hell of wind blowing right across the road.
Not pleasant weather for bike riding.

It is at this point that we decided we will be using a trailer on our next trip.
It really is not worth it to spend 4 days commuting to Namibia and back. We've done it twice now and the trans Kalahari is not for sissies. You can never go above 100 -110km/h and you have to slow down every 2 km to avoid hitting donkeys and trucks.

Now we have to wait for Neil to heal (after his little altercation with very large piece of tar road) and then I think it is Zimbabwe time  :pot: :pot: :pot: :pot: :pot: :pot:

I do hear the KTM is looking VERY sexy after the re-constructive surgery

Until the next Jameson Brothers adventure!

Fantastic - very little room for improvement!! Thanks for sharing! :thumleft:

Damn, re-reading and living the ride again makes me more determined to accelerate the physio...

Bike is fixed, pick it up soon  O0 O0 O0 O0

Had my first physio session this morning and although it was painful, it is good to know that it is the last part of the recovery process....

Thanks for writing the report F, much appreciated and although it was not an epic trip (Popi will know what I mean), it was fantastic to be in Nam again with a really good friend...

To the other Jameson brother who faded again.... SHAME ONE YOU!!!! and there had better not be another fade
