KTM 990R snapped its chain

So I was driving past Cape Gate this morning at about 9. A guy came from behind on a brand new shining black and white 990R. Just as he starts to accelerate through the cars I heard him hit the rev limiter and then a funny scraping noise...  :eek7:

He started to slack off when he was next to me and I could see the chain hanging below the bike.
