It's been 2 years and my warranty is now a thing of the past. I've made a decision to service the bike myself from now on as I love to 'fiddle' like most guys and also save myself a lot of cash from the expensive dealer rates.
Now my question: I just hit 15000km and according to the agents, this service requires filters, plugs, oil change and shim check. All this is doable for me except the shims. The bike is still in perfect running order and starts immediately cold or hot. So is it really necessary to do the shims? Can something that could have been avoided by checking the shims happen that will cause serious damage?
