Just when I thought that RSA Topo2012.3 was going to be the last one we will see I have found out that Garmin has produced TOPO Southern Africa 2013 PRO. It is a very different mapping approach than the previous local offerings and has a contour shading similar to the Slingsby maps of late. Forum member Just Plain Dan showed us where to find the unlocked image file, this post is about using it on mapsource. There are three basic hurdles to cross:
Mapsource wants to see the individual tiles/maps rather than the composite image.
Mapsource wants to know where the file is.
Mapsource wants a registry entry telling it about the map before it will recognize it.
I have found a way around all three, it is a bit of a ream of paperwork so I have included it as a downloadable .doc file in this post. Ian
