This s not going to be proper Ride Report, I am sure someone else will do a far better job. This is more a token of my appreciation towards Jaco of Orange Energy (KTM George) for organising, sponsoring and taking us an absolute stunning weekend in the South Cape.
Firstly, thanks to a lot of people (Katoom, Piston Pete and Lil Minx, Surf, Ektoknbike etc) for inviting me to ride up to George with them. I decided to accompany my friend Dave "Oldtimer" Venter up in his car, as to cut down on his riding time, with his leg still recovering.
We gathered at Zanzibar in George on Friday night, where we could put faces to names and have a good few drinks. This where I had my first run-in with Oldtimer, as he wanted to go home at about 2am, just when I started seeing beauty in very ugly girls........ (Thanks Dave! )
We left Saturday morning (BTW Thanx Trailrider for hosting our bikes for the night!) over Montagu pass, towards De Rust, where a wonderful breakfast was awaiting us.
From there, the bikes started to depart in groups, as to avoid the ever frustrating dust. After refuelling in Uniondale, we set off to Louvain, where a welcome bar, lekka music, absolutely stunning spitbraai supper awaited us. After many hours of total enjoyment and laughter, we could settle into a clean, soft white bed, for a well deserved rest. Some went to bed early, others, like myself, spent a night of laughter, as for at least 4 hours, jokes were exchanged at a very rapid rate!
Let the pictures tell some of the story........
Coming up Montagu pass, someone on a 640.
Evo (?)
Jaco and Glenda (more of them later....)
Katoom
Joe Rocket (more of him later )
Chris Odendaal (only rider from Bredasdorp)
Papsak getting to love his new 950!
Here, Jaco and GF Glenda shows us how to do it 2-up on dirt! (only posted every third pic)
Can some-one make a .gif from that? I'll send you all the shots!
Oldtimer taking a break and resting that delicate leg!
....and back on the road.....
Surf looking for a place to have a dop!
Another George couple...very friendly people. Sorry, have forgotten your names! ???
A 640 at a different angle......
While these people were fixing his puncture.......
....Surf and Ektoknbike helped from the side.......
At Louvain, Jaco lined up some of the bikes.
Some found the bar very quickly
Others enjoyed the late afternoon cool air outside.
With the consent and encouragement of the owner, it just had to happen...... (knowing his fear of his wife, I will not post the pics of the offender!) Another .gif some-one?
A young Darksider!
Then, the amazing supper was served.
PistonPete
PistonPete and Lil Minx
Night time fun....... (Damn hooligans! )
One wasn't enough (different rider) and a brand new Scorpion was offered to the Dark Side......
Next morning, someone was recruited to the "other" brand........ GO SURF!
Leaving Louvain, Jaco and Glenda, followed by Oldtimer and Annelise
One last stop in Montagu Pass
Surf, hierdie bike het jou naam op!
Jaco and Glenda
and going down Montagu Pass.
Thanx a stack to Orange Energy for an unforgettable weekend! RESPECT!
I have lots more pics, please e-mail me for details, I can send copies.
