So we met up the Engen on the N1 and did a bit of a gorillas in the mist thing
The dudes
Andy660
Dunce
Bernard (future dog)
Sparky
Pote
Mr. Python
We put our ears back and headed out for Wellington and from there up and over Bains Kloof
through the Twisties and on to Ceres for a refuel
Then we hung a left and headed out for the oasis. Really cool gravel.
Hats off to Bernard who tackled it on his Varadero with road tyres - his 1st time on dirt.
we pulled off to flex the cheeks
Here's Pote digging in his amo case top box for a beer. Rumour has it, there was a case of them in there. Very practicle box.
Then it was onwards to the oasis.
Where we encountered the other bunch of dogs that headed for oasis this weekend, not gonna give a list 'cause I'll miss out someone, but check their report out for more detail
We made some new friends
And told some stories
Then after a suitable amount of refreshment we popped up to the Stadsaal Caves to get a touch of history
Don't know what Andy was gonna show us but look like it was a surprise for Pote
Then we headed into the caves
For a touch of history, this is Graffi dating back to the days of the Boer war
The view from the caves was way cool
There was a dassise checking us out in the middle of this pic but it must have been a ghost cause he didn't show up in the pic
After the caves we headed back to Oasis for the lunch we had ordered.
The road was a pretty sandy twee spoorwith a lekker soft middle manetjie on the way back i brushed the middle manetjie corrected and shaved the the outside the repeated then lost it in what felt like a fairly spectacular fashion. Over the bars into a nice neat tumble to land on my feet.
Then when I pulled off within a few meters I managed to drop it very unspectacularly in front of a 4x4 - blind.
I was consoled very quickly by thought of the rare rump waiting for me back at Oasis.
The food was excellent.
We then bid our farewells and headed for home.
We had a short stop when we encountered the tar for Harley to pump the bm's tyre again - a not so slow puncture.
Pote took the opportunity to give the dassie some water.
Then was home via Ceres with a short beverage break
And back through Bains kloof.
Harley had a serious challenge with that soft tyre in the twisties.
Thanks to Andy for organizing the ride it was a awesome day out :thumright:
