I wish I could find pics of my first trip. I had no advisors or helpers or.... Today I would need two Hiluxes to fit all the crap I loaded due to my ignorance. While you don't know that you can't do it, you can! Ignorance was bliss

Thee was one piece of road, less than 2 kms, probably took me an hour. I was scared of falling of the mountain and then the bike with the loaded luggage would fall on me. Without the luggage it might have been much easier!

(@firecoast on the 2 3 4th trip I started wising up. Why do I have all these clean clothes that I didn;t even wear. Why did I take a chess set, 2500 piece puzzle and a biltong chopper. Yes I do want to read the whole 27 expanded volumes of the commentary on Job but taking all them on a 3.5 day bike trip might not have been the best plan. Algaande leert man.)

hahahaha I also learnt the hard way. All you need is a change of clothes really. There is a PEP in every town.

Would have been interesting to see how you managed to assemble a 2500 piece puzzle on the bike.

I have been helped out a lot with great advice, so what is in the big bag is all I am taking for the weekend.

The Glitter Bug is a 640. If ever you are on this side of the world, come have a sit on it.

The Dakar is nice, but eish, those special frigging allan keys you always have to carry with you and don't even get me started on removing the battery.

Okay, I will definitely reconsider the Dakar, who needs to struggle even more when out on a ride. I hear your side of the world is very stunning. Maybe next year, this year has some crazy plans in it and Im going to have to kill myself with work to make it happen :ROFLMAO: I seriously want to do Baviaans so definitely making a trip next year

That little bike is truly amazing. It makes you feel like a riding God. I have taken it on the same roads I took my 'late' XT660 and it got me out of **** more than once, where the XT would have planted me over the fence in the field of cows.

I kinda feel bad that I have neglected him and prefer the Honda now.

This is why I love the DR so much. You need a medium sized piece of granite, a few nails (different lengths) and a drop of knowledge (which I'm lacking) and you can get it chugging along to the next mechanic who has a bigger rock and 3 screwdrivers

Also you do not have to replace all that plastic pieces when they eventually break because you have to fall sometime. My guess is that the SYM is similar to the Suzi in this regard

Yup, they fall really well.

I will probably start riding the DR again, as it is light enough to throw around and I need to build my confidence again.

I saw a stunning Dr650 in ProBike yesterday, beautiful grey one for R85k but it is not what I want even if I could afford it
