I chucked together a track to test-ride tomorrow for future planning.
Will do solo, but company would be good.
Has bits I don't know, and some Google Earth clicking, so may need a detour or two.
Tar to Wimpy in Magalies,
Back gravel way past Boy's Town, bit of tar, and then over Breedt's to Mooinooi.
Up to the Rust-Brits Railway
Along the railway line road to the west canal road and on it to Harties.
Magalies to Harties = 105Km - about 15Km of tar
Plan tracks attached -
GPX and GDB I hope will work in a Zumo.

Anyone know if the railway service road next to the railway from Marikana to Brits is accessable and rideable?
Looks okay in Google Earth - couple of crossings along the way, but that is mining area and the miners may have shut it.
I tell u why.
I see a ride some time in the future that goes from Krugersdorp to Harties, all the way along rail or canal service roads.
- From Krugersdorp to Magalies along the "chase the train" route. (Maybe even with a train running! )
- A quick jump over the Magliesberg at Breedt's nek to Marikana.
- Along the Rusternburg/Brits rail line to the West Canal road. <<<< bit I don't know if possible. >>>
- Along the west canal service road to Harties.
The ride would be all gravel except the bit from Orient to the Breedt's neck base, and a short hop up to Marikana.
I am thinking of taking an amble out Marikana/Brits way Sunday to look-see.
Anyone for some messing about and exploring in the platinum mines ?
