Kev, can I poss get your GPS trip log? I would like to follow your route out of Kubu. Last year I exited across the pan to Nata, but if they have stopped it then your route seems best.

Why would they not allow you to ride around the island?

The warden assigned to the island must have walked about 2 kays onto the pan to where we were having sundowners to reprimand us for driving onto the pan.  There are piles of rocks across the tracks that would take you onto the pan and all that is allowed is to exit to the north (towards Nata) or back to Lethlakane.

We did gather that this is a new restriction to protect the pan.

There was no real explanantion as to why we couldnt ride the pan as Dman says, and there were certainly other (fairly recent) vehicle tracks all over the place

Looks like one of those trips one remembers forever!  Thanks for the RR eSKaPe, love all the pics!

Been to the pans (and Kubu) several times since 1986, but always 4x4, would love to do it on 2 wheels.

Can't believe we did this trip a month ago now, seems like a year ago and at the same time seems like yesterday.
The collar bone sorted now but haven't take a ride yet!!!
