Mapsource Route vs. Garmin Routing help

After our little jaunt out in the Heidelberg area I've converted the tracks supplied by Grunt to routes.  On Mapsource all is great, but on my GPS (Garmin Nuvi 1410) the routes are taking only tarred roads.  I have fooled around with the avoidance settings, but to no avail.  Can someone please assist!
