1700 odd km later I arrived home to an empty house. My family left for Kruger Park in the morning and will only be back end of the week

Lots of time for some much needed maintenance

Excellent photo report of a great, yet tough weekend of riding on the LC 8 's NK  :thumleft:

Nice! Have the photographer’s pics been made available or do you just have early access?

This pic is giving me PTSD - what an insane climb. Was a lekker ride though!

We went down that pass when we recce'd the route and Mark rode up a part of it as well. Wasn't half as bad as it was on the event.

The river crossing loop was recce'd in the rain and was a nightmare....

So, I have this theory.. ;)
Let's assume total amount of good condition 990's in SA = X
You then organise a Legend tour, make it extreme and reduce the "good condition" 990's with a significant number equal to Y
Then, after the event you end up with good condition 990's = X - Y= Z
Depending on how successful you manage the size of the number Y by including water crossings, falling into rocks, etc. the number X is drastically reduced,
Leaving you with a reduced number of good conditioned 990's,
thus increasing the Legend Tax status of those remaining...
Make sense to me.. ;)

this explains why NK and Mark, the okes part of the organising team....have more than one 990!

Actually I dont think it was that bad, I fell only once, in mud.
I also struggled to start a few times, split the bike almost in two when subframe bolts disappeared and finished on a trailer due to flat tyre/axle-stop coming loose.
But thats beside the point

It is like scars, you have a story to tell, Why are you limping, landmine ,Angola, `1978 ?  no dog shit 30m back, lol
Look at your 990 and recall the scratch on the crash bar, Motul Tour of Legends 2022, most of them already had some battle scars on them. :3some:
