"I was hoping to forever keep her, but I need the money for fuel:
2004 model, got her with 4200kms on the clock in Nov 2007.
Currently somewhere between 65 000 and 70 000kms of great stories to tell (ride reports can be found on this very forum). Clock broke and missed the last -+ 1000kms. Some time ago the pick-up stripped (Doc KLR fixed it for me) and it lost another 1000kms. How can you believe me... well, if i was wanting to lie I would sell the bike on junkmail I suppose...
She is still licenced and on the road (gonna renew license disc this week). Started the other day, first time as always, after standing for about 3 months. Last serviced less than 500kms ago by myself, as always every 5000kms. Don't think I have ever needed to add any oil in-between services-that is still the case. Well, thats at +-110km/h-the speed I always use to travel and tour on.
Still the most economic KLR I know of- I often got 24km/l. On long tours it did better than a KLE500, two other KLRs and a VStrom. AND sometimes we were two up! Maybe it is my riding style-in any case I believe the engine was well nurtured all along ;D
It needs a new chain and sprockets, as well as tyres.
Doo-hickey done, got UNI air-filter. Even got a DIM (did it myself) luggage rack to go along if you like-don't look like much but carried many kg's for many 1000's of kms on all sorts of road or non-roads..."
PS-it is the red bike in the pics... :thumleft:
