Race Dog
The time has come for my son to race this year. We had just aquired a new ride in the form of a KTM 300 XCW a week ago.
Friday night, KTM Cape Town pitched their gazebo's and didn't take no for an answer, they wanted Stefan to pit with them, and urged total family participation during the race.
Here, mum helps a bit nervous Stefan to dress under the Orange gazebo of KTM Cape Town.
Mum, also a bit nervous, holding his gear while the riders' briefing takes place.
Riders' briefing in the shade under the bridge. By now, the quicksilver rose to about 32° .........
All dressed up......
Is this fear or excitement?
Mum still keeping the lad cool.
In the pit lane......
The first obstacle proved to be a bit much for some, but a walk in the park for others.
Congestion as a fallen rider blocks the entry to hill.
Stefan coming into the pits, mum making sure he takes in enough fluids.
And off he goes again!
Charl from KTM CT pitting.
The very friendly and helpful staff from KTM Cape Town.
Stefan pitting for refuel.
Taking in that oh-so-important fluids.
Proud dad also helping, wiping dusty goggles.
After 3 hours, its all over!
A very happy and proud mum hugging........
Little brother admiring Ouboet's Beast!
At the end, Stefan made us very proud, and with his determination, dedication and great spirit, took 7th place in his class, a great achievement for his first race!
A special word of thanks to KTM Cape Town for their much needed help in the pitting area and fantastic attitude! Well done guys! You make sure the newcomers to the sport feel appreciated and welcome!
Thanks also to all who helped Stefan, Mum, brothers, neighbours, friends etc. Its is hugely appreciated!
Well done to Round Table who ran the cafeteria, you did a great job!
A great event, with over 200 entries, thanks to the organisers!
