In Total - 16 days
4900 kms
My budget per day was R 150 for camping and food - free camping helped as I had R5000 cash for my journey , half of that was spent on fuel
I rode on average 350kms on riding days other than the Cape Town to Springbok road , I had a few days of walking in the Brandberg and around Spitzkop .
My average petrol consumption was 20km's to the litre
No oil used  :)

Nice RR Shanti with a lot of usefull information. Thanks  :thumleft:

You had the opportunity, grabbed it, and had an experience that most of us will only
dream of. Solo rides like this place you in a selected league. Well done!  :thumleft:

Shanti, your RR is absolutely inspiring.thanks for sharing, and thank you for showing us your thoughts on the way. Respect bru!

Amazing RR! Thanks for taking the time... One trip that is definitely going on my bucket list! I see the Rokstraps came in handy with the wood carrying!  :ricky:  :thumleft:

Rokstraps rock ! They are great - don't know why I left them out of the best things to have but they work well , are strong , simple to use - big recommend
Thanks again for all the positive comments .
In terms of going on my own - it is difficult to plan around people and I had planned on going with a friend but things changed and I wasn't going to cancel my journey to wait for another opportunity .
I think Byron says it best -
There is pleasure in the pathless woods;
...There is rapture in the lonely shore;
There is society, where no one intrudes
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more.
I very happy I went on my own , there is a certain feeling that comes up by day four that can't be touched or adequately described , your being stops the chatter and you ascend into the NOW , not often we get that experience in life .
Just ride within your abilities ... :ricky:

Excelent ride report Shanti. really enjoyed reading this. I did that trip in 2006, with a bakkie. But nothing beats riding it solo. This is the reason why we ride bikes!!

Great RR shanti!  You got your experiences and feelings across well in the writing and the pix. Really enjoyed reading it.

Thanks, this was great to read! I love your photos a lot. And the way you describe what impression the place made on you, the moods, your appreciation of it all. I'll sure remember a trip like this for the rest of my life.
:ricky:

Well done Shanti
A great R.R. Enough to get one planning again.
Nothing like a budget to turn a trip into an adventure.

Thats all I can think about for now , happy riding
one thing more - Just go - dont hang out too much on forums trying to get the best solution , your best solution will come to you on journeys and not on the net . If you don't have all the right stuff it does not matter , it shouldn't prevent you from going . Peace and thank you all for the lovely comments

I love this part! We tend to over complicate and analyze things. Just do it.

Great report!
