I don't like being underground.  I began feeling like this is where Mr. Alighieri authored Dante's Inferno and I was about to fall in one of the 9 circles.

Entry 11 continued

Once I was done with the tour at Carlsbad Caverns, NP, I was famished, my body beginning to feed off my blubber. I asked a rancher at a nearby fueling station if there was a restaurant south of the park, his answer no. So, back to Carlsbad for nutrients. I stopped on the south side of town at a Mexican taco stand. Very nice people running the joint. I ordered 2 brisket burritos that would knock your socks off. They also filled my water bladder for me.

While eating at this place, a local named Ryan approached me and began discussing my bike and trip. A few minutes later, he invited me to join him in his air-conditioned Super Duty, so he could draw me a map of a place I needed to see while in the area. He called it Sitting Bull Falls. Wow, he was not bullshitting me, quite an amazing place as you'll see in the following pictures. I'm glad Ryan told me about this place. He provided his phone number in case I had any trouble while in the area. His map was spot on and I rode directly to the area.

There was just one problem, it was closed and gated off.  Wasn't a snowballs chance in hell a car was going to make it in that place, but a dual purpose motorcycle with a TKC 80?

No worries  >:D O0.  I wasn't there to do any harm, just simply observe this magical place.  I was the ONLY soul there.

Just looks at the natural beauty near dusk  :drif:

Picnic houses

You walk a path

If you look to the south

And to the north  :drif: :drif:  Imagine just you and your love back here all alone, what a romantic place to share a picnic and a skinny dip.  >:D

It was getting dark, I still had to find a place to setup camp for the night and I'd already ridden nearly 900 klicks.  Looking back, this was a major lapse in judgment on my part.

I was concerned if I setup my tent where I wasn't supposed to be and a Ranger caught me back there the next morning or at night, he/she would make me pack up tent in the middle of the night and write me a long ticket with a fat fine.  So, I left, in search of a campsite.

I would have gladly paid the fine after the night and morning I experienced.  This is a point in the trip I truly never quite recovered from though that's what makes them an adventure!

If you ever visit SA, go see the Sudwala caves in Mpumalanga, the Kango Caves in (I think?) the Eastern Cape, and an incredibly interesting cave at the Cradle of Humanity just outside Krugersdorp (very close to Johannesburg)  :thumleft:

Those Carlsbad Caverns certainly are now on my bucket list  :ricky:

Thank you for the places of interest Zog, very helpful when planning a trip to RSA.

I hope you Mrs Baltimore and Zog dogs are well and preparing for that TVB visit.

I’ve been picking up spare cans and bottles in hopes of raising enough funds for a gift for you all during his visit.
