My brother in law phoned me last week and said he was going to the road show. He arranged that I could go with.
It was held at ADA in Broederstroom. It was very well organised. We were treated to a outride of roughly between 20 and 30 minutes.
The terrain consisted of about 1km tar and the rest dirt. a bit rocky in places but nothing too technical. Very laid back ride.
They had the base model available, 5 x bikes with traction control and ABS and then 1 x DCT model. I decided not to ride the DCT, it will take some time getting used to before taking it offroad as there is no clutch lever and gear lever. Everything is electronic (Too much electronics in my opinion). I think when in trouble instinct will take over and once its too late you will discover you actually had to use a button to down shift. But that's just me.
I rode the top of the range manual up the mountain, the bike had Mitas tires on and the standard screen. I thoroughly enjoyed the bike, It is extremely responsive and feels like a dirt bike. Extremely light and nimble. I disabled the Traction control and the abs. However the abs only disables in the rear and cannot be disabled in the front. The bike has a lot of power and lots of low down torque.
Once on top of the mountain one gent wanted to swop bikes with me as his had a touring screen and road tires. Unfortunately the tires made a massive difference going down and it was difficult in places. Massive difference in the tire options. Then the touring screen I found to be a hindrance. Once down the mountain I mentioned to the guy from Honda that I found the screen to be a problem, he said that in his opinion the standard screen also provided enough wind protection even when cruising at higher speeds.
We were then treated to lunch and after this they allowed my brother in law and myself to take a short trip with our wives just down the road and back again. My wife loved it, but then she is used to my RD07 Africa Twin and there is a massive difference between the bikes. She said the seat was very comfortable and I believe you will have aftermarket seat choices if you feel you need more cushion.
All in all an extremely well organised event and I am thankful I had the privilege of taking part.
I will definitely be getting one. As soon as my house renovations are finished I am off to Honda. I really love the white one. An extremely well rounded bike. For me the top of the range manual model (TC and ABS) will be the best.
