Hi, Albert v Wyk, 59 yrs old, been riding road bikes since 15, mostly sport touring / Triumphs (since back in SA), around the country and commuting.
I recently started dirt road riding on a Scrambler 1200 xe, so very new to the concept/feeling, but enjoying the bike a lot. In addition to commuting, I want to explore options out there, e.g. dirt road group rides (did Vredefort Dome recently with HD - good fun, learned a lot), touring away from main routes, solo trips vs finding riding friends/groups (maintenance, safety, distances - weekend, SA, Neighbouring), how far to go "off-road / technical" for age, skill level, tyre choices and enjoyment. Basically want to learn dirt riding skills & travel with less speed & risks than "earlier years".
I also have a Scrambler 900 in CT when down there every 2 months, commuting in Cape Town and exploring some roads in the province.
