Thanks for this awesome report Canzius. Sad that you had to cut it short and miss out on some epic riding, The EC is beautiful but its also quite unforgiving, those muddy roads I know all about, especially not fun on my big pig.
I sit and read you reports and wonder if I should ever consider a 990, as a second bike of course, but then I also remember how I hate Patching tubes.
I have now also learned that if you dont have Tubeless wheels, you should not leave home without a Hand pomp.

I think a 990 is the one bike every adv rider should own at some point. Fantastic all rounder, hugely capable in the rough stuff and nothing other than the new mid size KTM’s is as exhilarating to ride.

Puncture aren’t lekker, but once yo’ve practiced it a bot, it really is a non-issue…… unless you forget your hand pump.

Innie bed lê en lees ek die RR van voor tot agter en vergaap my aan die mooi foto’s. So baie dat ek so pas besluit het, pappa gaan nie vandag werk toe nie!
Nee, hy gaan vir mamma op die 1190 laai en ontbyt en koffie gaan doen by die nuwe padstal, net buite Venterstad en dan Bethulie om terug ry huis toe. Of so iets.

Great RR thanks for sharing. Yamaha bashing is tempting fate. Glad you all made it back in one piece. Epic adventure, who knew the 990 doubled up as a submersible???

Thanks to this ride report I have also now decided to source me a good bicycle handpump. Even if I have to cable tie it to the inside of my panier frame, wraped in something.

I gifted it to Koos. It was an Airman that has given me nothing but trouble in the 7 years I’ve owned (and hardly used) it. Will now look at other options. Desert Fox looks durable and pumps well, but fairly large.
