Oil Pressure warning light

Me and a buddy went on a ride this weekend to parys, we hit the dirt just outside JHb at lanasia or something like that. There wasnt much dirt, just mud and alot of it. We were plodding along getting dirty and all of a sudden my oil pressure light comes on. I stop asap and check around for any weird visible things. My oil filter and cooler was totally packed with mud. I assume this could have caused the light come on? After i cleaned it it got packed again and i stopped to clean it. After i cleaned it there was no further issues. Could this have been the mud? or should i take the bike in for a checkup?
