Hi Dogs
Recently hooked up with a newby in town (actually, he farms just outta town past the proef plaas). His bike needs a bit of ammo spent on it and he doesn't have much to spare at this stage. I've given him Doc KLR's number for an Eagle Mike kit, his chain's making a racket...but in the interim, a quick sortie into his front wheel to discover why his speedo isn't working wasn't a good trip. There are chunks missing out of the hub, to the point where the wheel bearing retention circlip was free-floating in space, not a drop of grease in sight. (recently serviced and top-end overhaul). Speedo worm gear is operable but badly worn, and the speedo drive washer is toast. In short, he needs a new hub and speedo drive gear. Does anyone have spare parts at a reasonable price? Or maybe a complete wheel? The bottom line is, he's been bitten badly by a "local" shop who doubled the invoice from the quoted price (R3k to R7.5k), and there's still a bunch not lekker with the boney, and the3 oke's now seriously out of pocket. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks., Oh ja - its a newer boney with the pinch bolts and clamps on the front wheel shaft. My fugly's still A-ok ;-)
