Restoring black plastic trim - teach me please.

I know there's lots of products suitable for restoring black plastic trim, but how long does the general stuff last? I'm looking for a product that will not dilute with the next wash, or form a layer that peels off. Also something that doesn't make your hands black when you touch the plastic.

Anyone with experience that knows a good product?
