I'm along for the ride, planning on heading into that area in May next year.

Lyk na fantastic roete.  Ek volg graag.  Het ook idees om later in die jaar daai geweste te gaan rondry.

Is that the rocky climb just after the oernoep river about two thirds of the way from pella to vioolsdrift?
It is the 4x4 route between Eksteenfontein and Kuboes, it is seriously technical. The video and photo’s does not give you any real idea of the technicality.

Losper, it is the section in pictures below right? As you know I chickened out there last time so I'm heading there again over weekend to get even. Did you guys make it and is there anything horribly difficult (apart from the downhill on the picture? I'm going to be alone, but on 500 so hopefully should make it through OK, just wouldn't want to find out km later that I have to go back up there. Thank you  :thumleft:

And did you do Road to Hell, and if so, how was it?

Xpat,  yes it is the same section.
We did it south to north in 2015 and then it was already very technical, we did it north to south this time and it has deteriorated very very badly. The section in your picture is not the most difficult section. There is an extremely bad washed out section about 500meters north of your photo which is very very steep. It is probably doable on a 500 (with help) but almost impossible on a big bike. I do not recommend this track to anybody, it is pure hell on a big bike.

Hmmm, thank you. Doesn't sound encouraging - as the section in the picture I already posted was enough to throw me off last time as I wouldn't be able to make it up that way should I hit a wall later on - which is what you say I may. But I was on 690 which is much heavier so I will go and have a look and decide on the spot.

Did you do Road to Hell?
