Day 4
I woke up to another stunning day weather wise not cold not too hot just right. I clapped it down the road to Outjo. The German bakery was calling my name for breakfast. I had great service as always and can recommend them for visitors to the town.
From Outjo I took the gravel to KalkFeld en then split of to the D102…something running towards Okahandja. I passed well known landmarks like Mount Etjo Game farm where John Wayne once hunted. I passed some of the best balanced farms I have seen in Namibia vegetation wise. The mopanie trees and Vaalbos brush was healthy and the Swarthaak and sekelbos minimal. I turned a corner and there was my farm, I needed to rob a bank in the next town and come back and buy this farm. I would farm cattle and breed Game and grow a proper beard. Maybe even start smoking a pipe.
Not far from here I got blocked by a huge entrance gate to Erindi…..
I thought here it is my first problem of the trip at the 2350km mark. How wrong I was the guard slid the gate open and smiled whilst asking me where I was going and for my contact details. I was now driving thru a big 5 reserve on a motorbike. It was great. Elephant dung was everywhere, but the pic of my bike and a elephant in the background unfortunately never happened. I was a little disappointed in Erindi the veld was badly managed and the game numbers very low. I left the reserve and immediatle started seeing Gemsbok, warthog , kudu en Springbok on the next farms.
I rode to the B1 main tar road of Namibia and took the 38km to Okahandja. Here I forgot to rob the bank, but I got some biltong at least just as good. And a well-balanced diet.
I rode the crazy tar road into Windhoek where I dropped of 2kg of dried fruit that had been in a gift bag in my pannier riding along all the way. The same friend(Oom) had orginised a new tyre for me at Danric BMW. They helped me quick quick and the cost for a new TKC + fitment and balancing was rediculousy cheap.
From here I travelled 40km South of Windhoek to a Game ranch of family friends.
