My wife and I arrived at the Karroo Theatrical Hotel at about 17:30 as wabbit16 and company were leaving.
We offloaded the bike and set about exploring the hotel. We discovered the Da Vinci code, followed the clues and found new friends and an entertaining although different weekend.
The EC bash was down the road, so the plan was to do a exploratory ride up to the mast and surrounding area and then catch up with some of the WC Dogs I met at the Clanwilliam bash, but the planned ride was washed out as on Saturday mother nature let rip with an impressive display of thunder and lighting and the rain came down in buckets.
Sadly the rain continued, the whole day ended a wash out but there were plenty of dogs that came up to the KTH for drinks and lunch so we soaked up the news on the bash, there were some happy people and some not so happy people.
Just after lunch some resident hotel dogs that paid for the bash set off to see the other dogs and go up to the mast. Unfortunately a mud monster ate Redtiger’s GSA1150 and quickly cooled the others down but sanity prevailed and all the GSs returned without damage.
By 17:30 the rain was still around and the owners of the KTH offered their backpackers part of the hotel for free and charged R50.00 for a big breekie for any dogs whose kennels may have got flooded. The owners know that a certain wilddog discriminated against them and insulted a few dogs and yet still made the generous offer. It is really sad that one wild dog member can cause some of the adventure loving dogs to go rabid all because of freedom of choice on where to stay.
Overall all the dogs from the bash, Royal hotel and the Karroo Theatrical Hotel all had an adventure and some good stories to tell at the next few outings around a good campfire.
Well done to the bush dogs.
Here are a few pictures around the KTH.
You will see quite a few of these in different RRs but with their own stories.
